What makes the difference is the instructor. You need one with integrity, one you can respect and trust. Asia Nelson is that teacher.

I have fallen in love with yoga in large part because of how I was introduced to it by Asia. Each week something new and awesome is revealed to me.

You truly are irreplaceable. You’re like the Jesus of yoga.

Welcome to the change you’ve wanted for a while now: change created by investing in yourself, with time to explore and learn the movements you need to feel stronger, safer, and more at ease in your body. Mindlessly repeating and forcing yourself into a template has gotten you a hack-job practice, a rinse cycle instead of a full wash, dissatisfaction, injury – and has failed to get you to your goals.
With Pranalife Yoga, we focus on quality.
Stop feeling powerless, pushed, standardized, unsure and behind. It’s time to feel in control. It’s time to learn how to trust yourself.
It’s time for real change.
My name is Asia and I’m the founder of Pranalife Yoga & Pranalife Yoga Teacher Training. I’ve spent over ten thousand hours and many years researching, practicing and teaching the art of moving well. I’ve taken the best of yoga and integrated it with creative movements that build core strength, keep joints healthy, and are so much more interesting than repeating the same poses – in your body and life. You’ll feel stronger and less stressed, and you’ll get where you want to be, the way you want to get there.
In 2011, I had a major back injury. After nearly 13 years of a practice heavily influenced by the rigours of Ashtanga Yoga, I had to re-learn how to move in a way that healed me and didn’t trigger back pain. After years of studying the latest research on back pain and injury (including working with world-leading back expert Dr. Stu McGill) and exploring movement practices outside of yoga, I developed a more robust way of moving – the Pranalife Yoga practice – that builds strength and mobility while addressing the gaps, repetitive stress, and gymnastics-body-specific movements of traditional yoga that don’t serve many people beyond the first few years of practice.
If you’ve grown bored of the yoga that you used to love, if you’ve been hurt doing something that was supposed to heal you, and if you’re looking for something that seems more intelligent and useful – you’re in the right place.
Make your new mantra “I move now to move well at 80.”
The Pranalife Yoga practice not only feels great now but keeps your body healthy for the long run, because –
What is freedom now if it cages us in our bodies as we age? What is strength now if it’s at the expense of movement later? Why move mindlessly and do damage if we can move mindfully and generate long-term health?
When I started teaching this new movement style, I was known as the Core Queen and go-to Ashtanga teacher in my city. This practice was very different, and would mean a learning curve for my students. What I found when I started teaching it is people LOVED it. My yoga teacher trainings are now at max capacity every year, workshops sell out, and classes are packed week after week – because this practice WORKS.
Change what you’re doing on your mat to support your life: don’t just strive to become more flexible but also stronger, centred, and free of habits that no longer work for you. Practicing Pranalife Yoga is an opportunity to be creative, confident, and compassionate in your body, mind, and life.

There seems to be something magical about the way Asia teaches. Every Friday was a treat for myself, to unwind and reflect on my week under Asia’s guidance.

I began practicing yoga in 1998, became a Certified Advanced Instructor in 2006 and launched Pranalife Yoga Teacher Training in 2008. On top of well over 5000 hours of personal practice, I’ve led over 5000 hours of classes, workshops and the best yoga teacher training available, created sell-out yoga events like the Vine & Vinyasa yoga+wine+food evenings, and designed retreats to Baja, Sicily, Costa Rica and Tuscany. Teaching and leading is in my blood.
When we don’t move towards what we love, we get small and fearful. When we follow our own compass, take the path less-trodden (or carve out our own), our fears can’t hold onto us. We become more free. When we listen to ourselves, we feel more complete and content.
Often, we don’t know how to get started. Moving is a way to start listening, to try changing.
It’s pretty simple, and the effects are often profound.
When we move toward what we love, everything expands.
