Here’s the thing: A big movement like handstand takes time. In over 5 000 hours of leading yoga and movement classes and ten years of running teacher trainings, what I see too often are people who don’t have the strength of body & mind to build a powerful practice from the principles of strength (sthiram) and ease (sukkham).
They’re so close, but they’re forcing or bailing instead of focusing on what’s important.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
You can build your strongest handstand and ultimately transform your entire movement practice in a way that’s safe, smart, and sustainable.
You won’t just progress to a gorgeous handstand; you’ll gain the inner strength required to stop chasing and failing, and instead finally practice with a healthy balance of strength and ease.
Understanding a handstand: wrist demand, shoulder position, core and hip work, and different handstand options. Creating strong, stable, capable wrists and forearms to hold your bodyweight. Exploring progressions in Crow Pose for handstand training.
Adding core strength/stability/skills training, plus the basics of shoulder mobility and strength. Exploring Downward Dog for shoulders, and Plank/Planche positions for core and wrist strength.
Dialing in to shoulder limitations and how to free them up. Plus, introducing basic strength training that can be done to compliment handstands, including pushing/pulling and hinging/squatting/lifting.
Getting upside-down! Building basic endurance for holding a safe and stable handstand, using a wall, and how to progress confidently instead of recklessly. PLUS, the heart of the approach of slow practice for quick growth – what it means, how it works, and how to do it.
Introducing more integrated (full-body) strength training options, plus playing with dynamic handstand variations (handstands in motion). Get creative about how to progress at EVERY stage of handstands.
A full handstand practice that you can use as your foundation for building strong, stable, sustainable handstands forever. Plus open mat time to workshop, as questions, explore, and further personalize your practice to your skills and interests.
What is so striking is what an exceptional teacher you are.
You set the bar (or dowel) really high, but then you help us get there. You always convey your unconditional belief that we can do this, and if we can’t, explain even more about our bodies and biomechanics. You never, ever, convey that you are better that us in any way.
You create a safe space, use humour and yet, there is never any question about your knowledge and skill which you generously share with us, clearly believing that we too, will be as knowledgeable and skilled by the next class.
You balance high expectations of us, with gentle acceptance for who we are. That is why we work so hard!!
Thank you for all of that Asia.

Lots of fun loaded with information and challenge. Wish this was a year-round class!

Throughout the Your Strongest Handstand classes, I began to feel more confident, more ready to attempt new challenges, but most importantly, more prepared to face my fears. I feel healthier, stronger and more capable of doing things I had only imagined.

Q: I’ve never done a handstand / I was a kid the last time I tried. Is this course for me?
A: YES. We start at the beginning, with a well-tested road map to build a complete handstand piece by piece. This course will give you movement wisdom that inspires confidence instead of fear. There will be no reckless tossing about and hoping you’re able here.
Q: I already do handstands but I want to get better at them. Will this be too beginner for me?
A: Not even a little bit. A lot of us learned handstands through play, trial and error, and using cues given to bouncy, bendy gymnastics-trained kids. Is that bad? Nope! But that kind of learning often has gaps that easily lead to injury. To avoid that, we’ll learn the essentials in an efficient sequence, and practice them together for six short weeks, until it’s your new habit.
From there, you’ll have progressive options. For example, we’ll spend time working on wrist mobility and common weaknesses through basic movements, but if you’re experienced you’ll have options to progress into planche and plank toe-drag work. This is the beauty of taking our time to do it right: there’s TIME to really dive deep and progress with proper tissue adaptation.
Q: How is the course delivered, and do I have to start it right away?
A: You get access to ALL SIX videos as soon as you buy the course, and have access to them online for as long as they exist. You can work through them at your own pace, and though they’re designed to go from class one to class six to wisely build your strongest handstand, you can jump into any of the content as you please!
In addition to this footage, once you’ve bought the course you can reach me directly as you work on your handstand. I’m happy to answer questions, take a look at footage you send me, and cheer you on as you practice!
Q: What’s the format?
A: This footage was shot at a recent LIVE handstand course I ran. Each of the six videos is a full hour class split into sections with discussion/Q&A, the movement practice, and live interaction with people in the room. You also get bonus footage of shorter workouts as well as more detailed instruction for some of the movements.
Q: What if this course doesn’t end up being for me?
A: There’s absolutely ZERO RISK for you: If you’re unhappy with this course for ANY REASON, I’ll refund you 100%, no questions asked. I’m passionate about devoting time and energy to people who LOVE to practice with and learn from me, and I’m happy to free up anyone who’s not feeling it or getting what they want from the course.
